The Mobile Data Associations (MDA) latest statistics on mobile phone based Internet access shows a continued increase in usage. WAP page impressions (views) during November 2003 reached a record 947 million:
Earlier in 2003, it was estimated that mobile owners would look at about eight billion Wap pages across all four main UK mobile networks by the end of the year.
But November's numbers meant the total for 2003 already stood at 8.2 billion, and that should increase when figures from the festive period have been counted.
Increasingly more services and applications are being made available to those with Wap/GPRS-enabled mobiles, enticing people online on their phones. No doubt the growth of rich-colour mobiles with larger screens and forthcoming 3G technology will help to spur mobile Internet use on further still.
Mind you, they'll need to make 3G phones a little smaller than the present BRICK size before they can truly take off. More @
