NTL has issued usage warning letters to a number of its broadband cable modem service subscribers. It's unclear how many have received the letter, although all highlight excessive use above the operators 1Gb per day cap.
Certainly one of the people we spoke to, Nick, was honest about his usage being a rough daily average of up to 8Gb download and 2Gb upload. We note that this was on a 1Mbps package.
Clearly NTL was bound to act sooner or later, although those affected argue that their level of surfing is exactly why they pay more for a broadband connection.
