Updated with NTL comment. Cable operator
Telewest has shrugged off BTs new broadband based voice calls (VoIP) offer to cable modem users as "
hype" and that "
consumers will soon realise the limitations of this offering.".
Matthew Dearden, director of telephony at Telewest Broadband, said: "Over 90 per cent of our blueyonder broadband customers recognise the unbeatable value and convenience of combining their internet access with a phone line and/or digital TV services from Telewest Broadband."
A spokesperson for NTL Home, said: "While we're flattered at how seriously BT is taking the threat from cable, their new service is extremely limited and, as usual, they have cherry-picked figures across the cable sector to try and make their case."More @
