BT has signed a number of new deals and agreements to bring broadband wireless (Wi-Fi) Internet access to student accommodation and 60 Hilton hotels across the UK:
The [student] service, 'uBroadband' will be available from September and will provide its younger customer base with internet access at a cost of £5 per week. 'uBroadband' will replace the existing dial-up service and it is planned to extend the service further, with no further details being unveiled.
Based on solutions from Cisco Systems, BT will offer subscribers an 'always on', up to 512kbps broadband service.----------
Similarly BT's deal with Hilton should further expand the coverage of wireless products, although exact pricing for guests is unclear (assume BTO's standard tariff):
----------
BT will manage the roll-out of the project and installation of the services, and broadband services provider STSN will provide the hardware and on-going support.
The deal, worth [£2m], follows the roll-out of BT Openzone 'Hotspots' and STSN's managed conference services across the Hilton UK & Ireland portfolio throughout 2003/2004.More @
