Micronet Launches Unlimited Satellite!

Posted: 10th May, 2004 By: MarkJ
Broadband satellite ISP Micronet has re-designed their website and announced the introduction of a new unlimited service. The system uses Eutelsat's 33 Degrees East e-bird satellite and "offers speeds of up to 2Mbit with Unlimited QUALITY SPEED downloading.":

INTRODUCING OUR NEW SKY BIRD PACKAGES, ON THE EUTELSAT E-BIRD 33E SATELLITE - 1 MONTH TRIAL

We know that there is a lot of frustrations in the UK Satellite broadband market at the moment, with users having to stand for an expensive service with poor restricted speeds being offered on satellites that are mainly used for Digital TV, these particular satellites such as Astra 28.2E are badly managed and over congested, with a very limited amount of speed capacity, but now with our all new Sky Bird Packages that run off the all new Eutelsat E-bird satellite at 33°E, dedicated to Internet this satellite is specifically positioned in order for UK customers to receive a HIGH QUALITY broadband service and Digital TV via one dish, but this is considered just a perk when you consider it has MASSIVE speed capacity for millions of users and with over 20 transponders dedicated to broadband, no satellite ever before has been able to provide this level of unlimited speed capacity at an affordable price.

The Sky Bird package (on the E-bird satellite) offers speeds of up to 2Mbits and UNLIMITED DOWNLOADING, you will be offered speeds of up to 2Mbit's for the first part of your quota, which can be 300mb, 800mb or 2GB after this the service will remain UNLIMITED for dependable speeds (Not "capped speeds") available on the server at that time, the dependable speeds on E-bird satellite are fantastic, our tests showed an average speed of 1mbit with a even better performance in non-peak times while downloading high unlimited amount of data.

To prove the service lives up to expectations, we are offering a 1-month trial for just £16.99 for the month, with the Activation fee (£25) not applicable unless you choose to carry on your subscription past 1month, so after that you can decide whether you are going for a 1,3,6 or 12 monthly contract after seeing just how good the service is. (A basic 12monthly subscription is £19.99 a month).

All you need to do is point a 60cm or larger dish to E-bird 33°East, if pointing a dish to this position is a problem because you just have 1 dish pointing to digital TV (you need to replace your dish with a special modified one in order to receive both services through the same dish) we are offering 60cm dishes for £39.99+ P&P (inc everything) and offering to refund the money for the dish if you choose to stop your subscription after 1-month, the cost of the separate dish can also go towards getting a special dish for digital TV and broadband through the same dish after you choose to continue using the service.

The concept of punctuation, specifically use of a '.' full stop, appears to have gone out of the window =). We had to hook ourselves up to an automated ventilator just to read it.

On the other hand, grammar aside, could this be the first satellite ISP to offer a truly unlimited service? We’ll know with time.
