Clara.net has become the latest provider to introduce support for global roaming Internet access via iPass. Their monthly customer newsletter explains:
Through a strategic partnership with iPass, one of the leading virtual network operators, Claranet has launched an International Roaming System for modem and ISDN users.
Claranet Global Roaming will provide the ideal solution for mobile professionals who are outside the range of their local dial up numbers, but require the use of corporate network applications, email and the Internet via dial-up, ISDN and broadband access. In a matter of moments, with a simple point-and-click interface, users are able to connect to all these applications whilst on the road or at home. User ID's and passwords are maintained to corporate e-mail accounts, as well as the web browser and e-mail program that the customer uses. Using an easily installed special dialup application which presents a list of local phone numbers of ISPs worldwide, a user simply selects the city they are in and connects.
Claranet's launch of the roaming system now means users no longer have to make expensive long distance connections to the Internet. Furthermore, the service offers reliable, secure and extensive worldwide access - users connect via a virtual network of over 200 enabled wired and wireless broadband, dial-up and ISDN networks.
Costs start at £50 per user, plus worldwide usage rates.
