Many of you will remember BTs recent announcement about an unlimited music offer from their DotMusic portal. Sadly the use of this word has caused Trading Standards to show an interest, which is now investigating claims that the PR was misleading:
Rival music download service, Wippit, has already contacted trading standards officers at Westminster City Council who are said to be looking into the matter.
Said Wippit founder, Paul Myers: "We've already had a conversation with trading standards officers who are as concerned as we are that the BT claim is more than a little misleading."
However, Wippit points out that these downloads can't be transferred to other playing machines unless they are purchased. The music also become unusable if the punter ceases to subscribe to the service. It remains to be seen whether Trading Standards will take a stance against BTs wording or not. Unlimited is often a word found to be abused by commercial businesses, especially ISPs. More @
