UK ISP
BTOpenworld has appointed Jerry Thompson as its new head of Business Broadband:
BT OPENWORLD APPOINTS NEW HEAD OF BUSINESS BROADBAND
Joining from BTexact, Thompson will take responsibility for the operations and profitability of BT Openworld¹s business broadband proposition. He will lead his team to increase customer satisfaction and build on the ISP¹s 100,000 business broadband customers. In addition, Thompson will work closely with colleagues in other parts of BT.
Thompson brings extensive experience in internet services to BT Openworld. He was instrumental in managing the early phases of BT¹s hosting and applications services ventures in the UK, and led the company¹s ISP business in Spain. He has also represented BT as the board director on a number of ISPs, including LineOne and Yucom.
Having joined BT in 1991 from an IBM software house, Thompson led some early BT outsourcing sales. These include ICL¹s voice network and the Hanson (ARC) data network. He then focused on investments in mobile and fixed businesses in Europe, including Airtel in Spain.
Duncan Ingram, managing director at BT Openworld, said: "Jerry Thompson will play a crucial role within BT Openworld and at the heart of BT. He will take responsibility for developing the leading business ISP in the UK."
