Several weeks ago it was announced that Inspired Broadcast Networks (IBN) intended to rollout 3,000 broadband wireless LAN (Wi-Fi) Hotspots in the UK during 2003.
It's now been reported that the company may extend the coverage to help bridge the digital divide by linking its services up with rural areas:
Addressing a conference of broadband activists last week, a senior executive at Inspired Broadcast Networks explained that his firm would be happy for community broadband networks to be connected to its wireless hot spots -- a way of bringing high-speed Internet services to places without access to broadband.Anything that improves broadband coverage is welcome, so long as it's affordable and easy to use.
