Overture Confirms Freeserve Deal
By: MarkJ - 22 August, 2003 (8:43 AM)

Overture has confirmed the existence of its new deal with Freeserve. The agreement will see Overture provide algorithmic search results to the UK ISP, thus displacing its rival Google:

Overture has been providing paid listings to Freeserve since 2000, but under the new agreement will also provide the algorithmic search results.

Freeserve said that it switched to Overture from Google on the back of evaluation of the relevancy and breadth of results sets offered by both indices. It claims that it now provides the largest collection of UK web pages currently available, based on Fast's global index containing approximately 3.2 billion web pages.

"Broadening our relationship with Freeserve is a big win for both organisations and indicative of the level of success that Freeserve has already experienced with Overture," said Nick Hynes, President and Managing Director, Overture Europe.
