Plusnet's Unmetered Dialup Maintenace
By: MarkJ - 26 August, 2003 (9:38 AM)

Customers of UK ISP Plusnet, specifically its unmetered dialup service, should note that they will be performing a good deal of essential maintenance this week. There will be some service interruptions, although the upgrade is also expected to spawn a new (128Kbps) package.

The following update was posted in our forum:

Important - FRIACO (0808 Unmetered) Maintenance

Dear Customers,

We will be performing maintenance to our FRIACO (0808 unmetered) platform over the coming week. This work is to move the platform onto our dedicated hardware at Telehouse, London.

There will be a period of interruptions to your service as the individual numbers are "ported" across from BT's platform to our own.

The maintenance windows are as follows:

Wednesday 27 August : 02:00 - 06:30
Thursday 28 August : 02:00 - 06:30
Friday 29 August : 02:00 - 06:30

During each of these maintenance windows you may experience an interruption in service.

This work is to aggregate the platform and improve the overall level of service you receive from our Unmetered product line. It will also lay the foundations for an Unmetered 128K FRIACO service (as previously the limitation preventing this was the fact that the platform terminated on BT equipment).

We will post further news on the development of our dial platform as and when more details are made available.

Kind Regards,
Customer Support.
