It's no secret that ultra-cheap unmetered providers can suffer from service and or support problems, which invariably leads to offers closing or getting more costly. So it's perhaps unsurprising to see UK ISP Fast4 increase its unmetered dialup price from £6.99 per month to £8.99:
Dear Fast 4 Customer,
As you will already be aware the Fast 4 service has recently taken a rapid decline in availability. This has been due to the overuse of thousands of customers and more importantly the massive uptake by new customers.
We have therefore taken the following steps to improve the dial up service back to an above satisfactory level.
From the 1st October 2003 Fast4 will see the introduction of hundreds of additional surf ports, thus reducing the engaged tones, refused connections and allowing faster more reliable surf enjoyment.
The online surfing limitations have not changed and therefore remain at an unlimited weekly surf allowance. The monthly subscription will increase from £6.99 to £8.99 to allow for these changes.
We hope that you will see that the changes are for the best and support Fast4 in becoming the UK's premiere ISP. Please take this letter as your statutory 14 days notification to changes in your contract terms and conditions. Please refer to the updated terms and conditions for further details and clarification to the term 'unlimited'.
I hope that this will not inconvenience you any further and you will appreciate the changes in the future.
Fast 4
