Virgin.net ISP Launches Stargate Site

UK ISP Virgin.net has partnered with MGM to launch a new website for the hit sci-fi TV series, Stargate SG-1, which will soon be starting its seventh season on SkyOne:
Virgin.net takes off with the Stargate website
Virgin.net, the UK's fifth largest ISP, has partnered with MGM via planning and buying Agency BrandConnection for the launch of the Season 6 DVD and VHS boxsets of the award winning TV series, Stargate SG-1 starring Richard Dean Anderson. This will be the biggest online campaign Virgin.net has conducted for a worldwide entertainment brand.
Following the futuristic theme of the cult TV series, the campaign has a big visual sci-fi focus, with Stargate 'hijacking' the Virgin.net homepage on the launch day. This is combined with DHTML executions in other key areas of the site, and specifically targeted to 25-44 yr old males. Editorial support includes exciting competitions, features and interviews with the show's main characters Michael Shanks (Dr. Daniel Jackson) and Christopher Judge (Teal'c). Visitors to the site have been invited to submit questions to the cast with the best ones posed in the interview. Fans can keep an eye out for the interview transcripts to be posted in the TV and Radio channel of Virgin.net.
"We chose Virgin.net for this campaign as it provided the right audience and had the ability to surround the user with the elements that we felt would create the right kind of atmosphere for a Sci-fi release", states Thorsten Nolte Head of Digital Interactive media at BrandConnection.
Fans will have the chance to win Stargate-SG1 Season 6 DVD boxset which is jam packed with 22 thrilling episodes of the show, as well as behind-the-scenes specials, video diaries, audio commentaries and promotional trailers. If that wasn't enough, fans will be able to win a state-of-the art DVD player!
In addition, MGM has partnered with Play.com to facilitate online purchases of Stargate SG-1 Season 6 DVD and VHS boxsets. Creative was developed by Green Room Digital.
