MS Tout Broadband XBox Live Success

Micro$oft claims to have subscribed 50,000 European X-Box games console owners to the recently introduced broadband multiplayer service - XBox Live. MS is now preparing to expand its availability and has announced a special free trial promotion:
It also announced plans to extend the service to six more European countries by the end of October and offer free trials to try to tempt gamers.
"Xbox Live is the killer application not just in gaming but for broadband," said Michel Cassius, a senior Xbox figure. Microsoft is keen to promote its dedicated online gaming service, seeing it as a key way to get more people to buy its Xbox console.
It is planning a major marketing campaign based around the idea of video games as social experience.
