AOL is currently testing a new advertising-free online radio service (Radio@AOL) for broadband users. The official launch is expected mid to late next week:
The company said it is currently working with all the rights holders to ensure that Radio@AOL is legally compliant before the service receives the green light from AOL chiefs.
"We have full respect for the rights holders and are just making sure we have all the necessary agreements in place before we launch," said an AOL insider.
The 100 or so radio stations available to broadband users will emit CD-quality sound and the service allows users to rate tracks and define favourite channels. AOL will add local and genre-specific radio stations as well as constantly revising playlists, in line with user feedback.More @
