The latest study from Jupiter Research has reported that by 2008 the number of west European Internet users will have swelled to a staggering 211 million (54% of the regions population vs 2002's 37%):
The latest growth estimate is another bit of positive news for Europe's largest Internet service providers such as Tiscali, T-Online and Wanadoo as well as for retailers online such as eBay and Amazon.
Internet stocks have rallied over the past year as companies shares have begun to produce consecutive quarters of revenue growth and small, but growing profits -- a rare combination in the battered technology sector. The biggest growth markets will be in France, Spain, and Italy, growing at 90%, 88% and 55%, respectively, Jupiter said.
By the end of 2008, France will have 31 million Internet users, trailing only Germany and the United Kingdom in the race for Europe's most wired nation.More @
