The UKs largest cable operator, NTL, is set to wave goodbye to its current chief executive, Barclay Knapp, before the end of this week. Knapp led NTL through a £7bn restructuring program, yet has also been blamed for a spending spree that almost pushed the group under.
In related news NTL also reported the activation of roughly 100,000 new broadband accounts during the three months to the end of June, bringing the total to 764,000!:
But Knapp, who will stay with the company as strategy advisor until the end of the year, leaves at a time when NTL is in the ascendency and was quick to thank staff in an internal message for "making my dream come true".
Incoming CEO Simon Duffy, current NTL COO and one-time CFO at Orange, will no doubt make it a priority to line up the long-awaited merger with Telewest, subject to the outcome of its own refinancing.More @
