Telewest Broadband has slammed BTs new Freeview (digital TV), dialup and phone (voice) package; calling it a "
pale imitation of cable's consumer-friendly offering.":
BT has cobbled together its telephone service with a Freeview TV box and pay-as-you-go internet access via the TV, claiming it will tempt back cable customers who enjoy the benefits of multiple services from one provider. They are charging a one-off fee of £129, plus telephone line rental and per-minute internet charges.
BT's attempt at the bundle
Philip Snalune, director of TV services, Telewest Broadband, said: "BT's new package is a pale imitation of cable's consumer-friendly offering.
Customers choose cable over BT because you can combine a cable phone line and pay as you go internet access with digital TV from an additional £3.50 a month, and this also includes access to premium channels, pay per view movies and free interactive services."BTs product isnt bad; yet pitching it against more diverse commercial services from cable operators isnt really a realistic comparison.
