The
WhatDoTheyKnow? site, which uses the freedom of information act to locate interesting bits of data, has revealed which UK operators and ISPs are still awaiting Ofcom approval for their Code of Practice (CoP) and Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) schemes. The list of CSPs includes a few surprising names, such as THUS and Tesco.
Under the Communications Act 2003, Communications Service Providers (CSP) are required to get Ofcom approval for both of the above mentioned services/schemes. A list of operators and ISPs that have already been approved can be found here:
http://www.ofcom.org.uk/advice/codes/codes_of_pract/Meanwhile the following service providers have submitted a code of practice that has not yet been approved by Ofcom:
Arrow Mobile Communications
Cleartone Communications
Fluidata
Global Data
KCC Global
MCW Group
Mediaforce Uk LLp
Noodle
Peach Telecom
Pinnacle Telecom PLC
Rainbow Telecom
Soltuion IP Comms Ltd
Tesco
Thus
V Networks
XI Communications Ltd
Sadly the information is very limited and lacks several crucial details, such as how long the submission has been pending and whether or not any of those listed have faced a rejection. Both THUS and Tesco have been operating broadband and or voice services for a long time, so it’s quite surprising to see them there.
