BT has launched a new Home (Land-Line) and Mobile Broadband ( 3G HSPA ) bundle that costs from just £15.65 a month. The deal essentially combines the BT Total Broadband Option 1 (Includes: BT Home Hub, up to 8Mbps speeds, 10GB monthly usage allowance and 250 Wi-Fi minutes a month) home service with their Mobile Broadband (1GB monthly usage allowance) service.
Both services EACH cost £7.78 for the first three months and £15.65 thereafter (NOTE: This works out as £15.56 per month for the first three months and not £15.65 as BT states) and are based off a minimum contract term of 18 months. There's also an additional charge of £49.99 for the Mobile Broadband USB Modem (Dongle).
John Petter, managing director of BT's Consumer division, said: “This is an absolutely fantastic deal, the most complete home and mobile broadband for only 56p a day is a no-brainer. Now you can use broadband wherever you are without worrying about the cost.
You can use Mobile Broadband on the train, in the coffee shop or in the park for all the things you go online for, to look at your e-mails, check the football results, or watch Britain’s Got Talent star, Susan Boyle on YouTube [ISPr ED: Oh god no!]."
To get mobile a BT customer simply needs to plug the USB Modem into their Laptop and follow the basic setup routine. BT states that certain areas should be able to deliver access at speeds of up to 7.2Mbps over the HSDPA network (80% UK coverage), though in reality 1Mbps+ is more realistic.
The offer is only available until 28th July 2009 to new online orders for BT's Total Broadband Option 1, 2 or 3 Home packages with an 18 month contract. It can also be gained when buying one of BT's standalone Mobile Broadband deals. Extra Mobile Broadband data top-up’s cost £10 per 1GB, though it cannot be carried over to the next month.
