Broadband ISP PlusNet has issued a new update on the status of its BT 21st Century Network (21CN) trials, which includes preparations to launch speeds of up to 24Mbps via ADSL2+ technology. The provider reports that 800 people (customers and staff) are now testing the faster services and, despite some problems that have now been largely resolved, all appears to be going well.
PlusNet, like many other BT Wholesale based independent broadband ISPs, has chosen to wait for Wholesale Broadband Managed Connect (WBMC) to deliver its 24Mbps ADSL2+ services. It's also just begun making use of IPStream Connect, which is a new service from BT Wholesale that allows an ISP to utilise the newer 21CN backhaul to carry its 20CN [OLDER BT PLATFORM] traffic.
Combined, the new services should be more cost effective and make internal user migration between the old and new platforms less of an obstacle. The full update can be read on PlusNet's -
