London-based
LONAP, a neutral not-for-profit Internet Exchange Point, has disconnected the little known UK broadband ISP
Wave Rider (OpenSense / Comline Networks Ltd.) over an invoicing dispute. It's understood that LONAP has also warned other members to shut down their peering with the provider in order to avoid network problems.
LONAP's chairman, Sebastien Lahtinen ( Thinkbroadband ), told The Register that attempts to resolve the problem had been unsuccessful. Meanwhile Wave Rider claims that talks are still "
ongoing", yet LONAP states that they are still waiting to hear from the ISP.
This kind of situation usually signals that an ISP is suffering from financial problems, though Wave Rider denies this, and indeed Companies House reports that OpenSense is long overdue on its accounts - "
31/10/2008 OVERDUE".
