Timico UK has announced early availability of its
Ethernet in the First Mile (EFM) access service, which utilises multiple existing BT based copper pairs to the end user premises with bandwidth increasing incrementally with each pair up to a total of 10Mbps.
Customers also benefit from installation lead times of 25 days compared with fibre based leased-lines, which can be up to 65 days. Based on underlying BT Openreach copper services, EFM comes with Enhanced Care SLAs of 4 hours to respond and 20 hours to fix.
“The addition of Ethernet in the First Mile to Timico’s product portfolio is an important step forward for the company” says Timico CTO, Trefor Davies. “EFM allows us to provide our customers with more flexibility when designing multi-site MPLS networks. The shorter lead times and flexibility in bandwidth selection mean that WAN solutions can be implemented far more cost effectively and quickly than has traditionally been the case.”
Timico has made a significant investment in EFM via Twin Gigabit Ethernet fibre connections from the BT 21CN cloud into diverse locations, then into Timico’s London MPLS ring. EFM is currently available within the 21CN footprint of approximately 600 exchanges. Premises need to be less than 3km from the exchange.
