Price comparison site
Simplifydigital UK has published the results of new rankings that claim to reveal the best value broadband ISPs relative to the actual speed (not the advertised rate) they deliver (speed delivered, per £ spent). Sky Broadband tops the table at £1.14 per Mb of speed, although only the largest nine UK ISPs were included in the table.
The table does not factor in additional costs, such as setup fees and whether you have to pay for line rental, TV or some other service to receive the broadband; total price is relevant. There are also other critically important criteria for weighting value, such as extra services, service coverage, free modem/routers, support quality and or usage allowances/service flexibility etc.
Constructing a table like this, while interesting, is ultimately of little use to consumers as it does more to reflect the marketing of broadband than the actual value or end-cost to the consumer.
