ISP Tiscali UK ( TalkTalk ) has announced the launch of a new legal DRM-free music subscription download service in partnership with eMusic. It is available to all of Tiscali's portal (website) users and contains a catalogue of over 6.5 million MP3s. It's hoped that the new service will also help to combat illegal p2p file sharing.
Neal McCleave, Senior Director of Online at TalkTalk Group, says:
“We are always looking for ways to enhance our portal and offer the best services to our 6 million users. The Music for life service will be a great boost to our entertainment content and offers a huge range of tracks at very competitive prices.”
The service costs £9.99 per month and is offering new users 50 free tracks when they sign up for a 14-day free trial. Downloads are compatible with all portable music players and can be burned to an unlimited number of CDs. The site also features music editorial and pulls in related artist content from sites such as YouTube and Wikipedia.
