New research conducted by BT Mobile Broadband and VisitBritain has revealed that nearly two thirds of Brits prefer to spend time on online with their laptop whilst away on holiday, with only one third preferring to spend romantic time with a loved one. It also revealed that two thirds of 18-25 year olds will mostly be spending their time updating facebook statuses, tweeting or uploading photographs.
Jon Hurry, commercial director BT Retail, said:
“We now want to get online when out and about we are and this research proves we rely heavily on being connected to the internet at all times. With nearly half of Brits holidaying in the UK this year and BT Total Broadband customers able to get online using the dongle and the BT FON network, this is the perfect time to get away, get online and discover some of the country’s best kept secrets.”
In addition more than half of people aged 51+ claimed they take their laptops away with them on short breaks, and 89% use the internet whilst on holiday to research historical places of interest.
