The government has appointed a career civil servant with no apparent IT (Information Technology) experience to be its
Head of Broadband Policy and Programmes at the
Department for Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS). The post will be manned by Simon Towler whom does at least hold a PhD in molecular biology, which is nice.
We're not sure whether that will help when it comes to setting up fibre optic broadband networks around the country but at least he's no stranger to complexity. People usually work better when they actually understand the subject that they've been put in charge of.
