BSkyB ( Sky Broadband , Sky TV ) has revealed a significant shifted in their line-up of broadband ISP services that will see all unbundled ( LLU ) packages given up to 20Mbps download speeds, the removal of their 10Mbps Everyday option and a price cut on the popular Unlimited package to £7.50 per month.
Sky Statement (from SkyUser)Sky today announces details of significant enhancements to its broadband services from 1st June this year. To make customers’ broadband choices easier & offer the maximum value, Sky will have just two broadband options for Sky TV customers, both offering up to 20Mb download speeds (or effectively as fast as their lines can reliably go).
• Sky Unlimited will offer Britain’s best value truly unlimited service at just £7.50 a month for Sky TV customers with Sky Talk. It comes with no usage caps, fair use policies or traffic management, making it ideal for those who want the freedom to download emails, photos, TV programmes, movies and games. It’s also ideal for those who want to access live and on-demand TV through Sky Player.
• For those interested in basic internet browsing, Sky Everyday Lite will be free for Sky TV customers with Sky Talk and offers up to 20Mb download speeds with a two gigabyte usage allowance.
Despite claiming to offer "
just two" options, the SkyBroadband Connect (non-LLU BT based) package continues to be available as a wholesale product with up to 8Mbps downloads for customers outside Sky network areas and at a price of £17 a month with £30 set up for existing Sky TV customers. Connect has a monthly usage cap of 40GB and is subject to a Traffic Management Policy.
As usual Sky Broadband Unlimited and Sky Everyday Lite are available to Sky TV customers
without Sky Talk for an additional £5 a month. Happily existing Sky Broadband Unlimited customers will be able to get the discounted price (currently £10 per month if you have Sky Talk) but only if they re-contract for 12 months in order to receive the new pricing of £7.50.
Yesterday also saw Sky launch a promotion offering 6 MONTHS FREE on their 'up to' 20Mbps Unlimited Broadband package (saving £60) for new customers joining Sky TV and taking Sky Talk Line Rental (£11 per month) and Calls (either Sky Talk Freetime (£0) or Sky Talk Unlimited (£5)).
