Ofcom UK has today published a consultant’s report on the operational aspects of duct sharing services, which uses several case studies from France, Portugal, Spain and the USA as examples. The report is designed to compliment Ofcom's earlier proposal that would require BT to open access into their cable ducts and allow rivals to lay superfast fibre optic broadband lines of their own (
here).
The document essentially explains the technical side of Ofcom's proposal for the Wholesale Local Access (WLA) market, which is currently under consultation until 1st June. It is intended as a contribution to the product development activities and industry discussions that will take place following Ofcom’s WLA consultation.
