Apple's
Safari Website Browser might not grab the headlines like Internet Explorer, Opera, Firefox or Google's Chrome but it's newly released version 5 does have some nice new features, including a welcome performance improvement.
Some of the changes include more support for the HTML5 and CSS3 standards and an integrated BING search. The browser has also been given a big speed boost, which makes it faster than most of its rivals, albeit still slower than Google's latest Chrome 6 development build (at least on MS Windows).
At the last count (
here) Microsoft's Internet Explorer held a market share of 59.75%, Firefox 24.32%, Chrome 7.04%, Safari 4.77% and surprisingly Opera came last with 2.43%. Apple will be hoping that its latest update can bite a bigger chunk out of the market.
