The UK Secretary of State for Culture, the Olympics Media and Sport (DCMS),
Jeremy Hunt (MP for South West Surrey), says he has made "
good progress on [his] DCMS manifesto commitments". He claims to have secured enough cash to tackle the country's broadband "
not spots" and fund his limited rural superfast broadband pilots.
Jeremy Hunt blogged:
"Treasury support secured to deal with "not spots" and rural superfast broadband pilots. More details to be announced at an industry forum next week - this will be a vital part of our economic growth strategy."
Sadly no further details were revealed. Broadband Delivery UK (BDUK), the delivery vehicle for the governments broadband policies, will hold a special industry event on 15th July next week where it aims to provide further details, announce several pilot schemes and discuss the best way forward.
