Communications and networking provider Entanet UK, which supplies a large number of virtual ISP (vISP) providers with broadband internet access solutions, has announced a major upgrade to the
London - Midland - North ring part of its national network that boosts the bandwidth capacity from 2Gbps to 10Gbps.
Steve Lalonde, Entanet's Chief Technical Officer (CTO), commented:
"As part of the rollout of our national network over a year ago now, we already operate at 10Gbps or better across London and at 10Gbps between London and our principal Birmingham, Stoke and Manchester locations.
Now, in line with our investment plans, forecasted growth and our network development strategy, we’re upgrading the links around the midland and northern areas to 10Gbps."
The upgrade will see Entanet run resilient 10Gbps infrastructure between
London - Nottingham - Sheffield - Leeds and Manchester, with the project expected to be completed by either November or December 2010.
