Popular ISP Be Broadband UK has informed existing customers of its budget
BE Value (£13.79 per month) package, which currently receive download speeds of up to 8Mbps (Megabits), that they will soon benefit from an upgrade to 12Mbps speeds; at least some of them will.
Alinna Chung, Product Manager at BE Broadband, said:
"At BE, we know that faster is better, and better speeds translate to better value. And with the recent launch of our landline product, it’s a unique offer for those looking for high speeds at a low price, along with BE’s award-winning customer service to boot."
Be Value Package Details (£13.79 per month)
* Up to 12 meg download
* Up to 1.3 meg upload
* Wireless modem included
* Free 24/7 support
* Unlimited usage (FUP)
* 12 month contract (free connection)
According to BE's math, this boost of +4Mbps should "
represent a potential speed increase of 50%". In reality BE admits that the upgrade will only benefit those who already receive the top speed on BE's Value package because ADSL2+ technology is already being used.
There is of course one slight catch to all this. Existing BE Value customers on the standard 8Mbs product will only be able to take advantage of the product upgrade
if they sign a new contract with BE.
The BE Value package upgrade also excludes customers on the 8Mbps product package with a usage limit of 40GB or those who joined using the half-price offer at the end of 2009; they will have to sign up for the standard BE Value package in order to take advantage of the upgrade.
With the recent launch of BE Landline, BE customers can now get broadband with speeds of up to 12Mbs download, 1.3Mbs upload and their basic landline connection for just £23.29 per month.
