BeyonDSL, an
ASTRA (
ASTRA2Connect - 23.5E Astra 1E, 1G, 3A) based Satellite broadband provider, has launched a new
Winter Sale that cuts the price of all its various internet access package deals.
For example, the BeyonDSL's
MaxValue 4M service offers download speeds of up to 4Mbps (0.25Mbps uploads) and a 2.5GB (GigaByte) usage allowance for £29.99 inc. VAT per month. This has now been reduced to just £24.99.
We note that the required hardware usually costs £299.99 and an installation is typically around £100. In addition there also appears to be an activation fee of £50 to pay, which brings the total to a hefty
£449.99.
BeyonDSL’s Michael Locke said:
"Many people depend on the internet for the Christmas Season whether searching for bargains, getting in touch with loved ones or simply relaxing when the holiday finally arrives.
We’re very pleased to launch these special offers now – in time for people to get online for Xmas. It’s also a concrete way to support the Government’s Universal Service Commitment of 2Mbps for everyone in the UK [by 2015]. This is now a reality for all of the UK where our satellite service is available; and that’s just about everywhere."
BeyonDSL also offers a number of other 1Mbps to 3Mbps packages from £19.99 per month that include a similar usage allowance but also add
unlimited data between 11pm and 5am every night. The unlimited off-peak feature can also be added to its 4Mbps service too, albeit at an additional cost of +£15 per month.
It's worth pointing out that BeyonDSL's Astra Satellite service can be combined with
SkyTV or
Freesat on the same dish. New customers may also avoid January's (2011)
Value Added Tax (VAT) rise by paying for a year in advance.
It should however be noted that BeyonDSL's Eutelsat and Avanti based rivals will soon have 10Mbps and 8Mbps capable broadband satellites in orbit. New services from related providers are expected from early next year.
