BT Considers Expanding Free UK Superfast Broadband Upgrade to 10 Communities

Following this morning's news, which saw BT Retail announced six UK communities that would benefit from an early (by 2012) upgrade to superfast broadband as a result of its 'Race to Infinity' campaign, the UK ISP has now hinted that it might expand this to include TEN communities instead of just six.A BT Spokesperson told ISPreview.co.uk:
"The extremely high level of votes in BT’s Race to infinity reflects the fantastic efforts by campaigners right across the country. The response has been so brilliant that we’ve decided to name six winners instead of five. We’re also looking into the possibility that we might go even further and add the top ten to BT’s deployment list. We’ll make a decision about this by the end of January."

Some 23 telephone exchanges managed to gain more than the minimum required amount of 1,000 votes, although the majority of those only had a moderate to low proportion of local premises return a vote.
