The results from 491 respondents (polled in December 2010 - January 2011) to our latest monthly survey have revealed that
45% of UK consumers are unhappy with their current Internet Service Provider, with almost one third (31.3%)
planning to switch ISP in 2011 (another 32.5% were undecided).
A lot of the problems could stem from
displeasure at broadband speeds and support quality, with 35.8% rating their provider's internet connection performance as "
Poor" and 26% giving the same verdict for customer support.

It's very disappointing to see that consumer satisfaction with mainstream ISPs is still so extremely low. Clearly
ISPs need to work a lot harder to keep customers happy. The situation should improve, at least a bit, as faster superfast broadband services become more widely available between now and 2015.
However the advertising of so-called '
unlimited' usage deals is set to face
tighter regulation this year, as will broadband speeds. ISPs must also adapt to a raft of new laws (e.g. Digital Economy Act). The result of which could cause
some prices to climb in 2011, which would be an unwelcome but perhaps unavoidable move on top of the current VAT hike.
This month's new survey simply asks how important broadband is to your life and whether or not having access to faster connectivity would encourage you pay more for a new house or hotel room.
