Satellite operator Avanti has today announced a new group of contract wins for the sale of its
HYLAS 1 broadband Satellite services within the UK. Deals were struck with both
Buzz Networks and
Rural Broadband UK.
Avanti launched its latest
10Mbps capable HYLAS 1 (
Highly Adaptable Satellite) broadband spacecraft into orbit around the Earth last November 2010 and has since seen a lot of demand for its new services. However we have yet to see what the new packages themselves will look like.
Avanti's Chief Executive, David Williams, said:
"Since the successful launch of HYLAS 1, sales activity has increased notably. The flexible, efficient Avanti business model combined with attractive pricing and quality of service is clearly resonating with new potential customers around the World.
As our current customers progress their own sales efforts they are likely to top up their commitments next year, so we expect to sell out HYLAS 1 capacity within the planned three years with the growth in demand from existing and new broadband customers. In addition we are experiencing significant bidding activity for large enterprise and cellular backhaul deals which could accelerate the rate of fill."
Separately there were also similar contract wins for firms in Spain and Portugal. Avanti has also extended an existing agreement with '
Prime satellite broadband' for more capacity.
