Popular ISP Be Broadband has informed customers of its legacy
BE Value package, which once offered a 40GB monthly usage allowance and up to 8Mbps speeds for just £7.40 per month (half-price promotions), that the old product will be
completely withdrawn from 31st March 2011.
By contrast BE's modern day 'Value' package offers "
Unlimited usage" (FUP), a free wireless router, free connection and download
speeds of up to 12Mbps; albeit at the somewhat higher price of £14.08 per month.

We’re writing with some news about your 40GB BE Value package – as of 31 March 2011, we are withdrawing this product. We’re sorry for any inconvenience this will cause, but we have a few options below that we hope will suit you. You can:
• Do nothing, and automatically be upgraded to the standard BE Value package with no usage limit at the price of £14.08/month. This will give you unlimited usage instead of your current 40GB cap, and potential speeds up to 12meg rather than 8meg.
• Contact us to cancel your service without any penalties*, even if you are still in your minimum term by calling 0808 101 3425 Monday-Friday 9am-8pm or by emailing cancellations@bethere.co.uk by 30 March 2011. Our team will be able to provide you a MAC code to move to another provider.
Customers whom currently pay £7.40 per month for the old service, which is incredibly cheap, might understandably be a little miffed at the news. Indeed the most recent half-price offer was only just launched last January 2010, although back in 2009 there was a brief £6.75 promotion running too. Credits to the
BeUsergroup for spotting this.
