BT Finds New Way to SPAM UK London 2012 Live Sites on Valentines Day

Posted: 11th Feb, 2011 By: MarkJ
bt love sitesTelecoms operator BT has announced that London 2012 Live Site screens across the UK, which are big video displays and event spaces in urban centres that offer live information and TV style coverage, will soon be spammed by lots of annoying "tweets, texts, emails and photos" when they become "Love Sites" instead. Oh no, not.. love sites :laugh: .

Not to be confused with adult dating or pornography. BT claims that "romantics" will be able to send their messages to appear on the Live Site screens between Saturday 12th and Sunday 13th February from 11.00 - 18.00, and on Monday 14th from 10.00 - 18.00.

Members of the public can tweet their messages to @BTLoveSites, including the hashtag relevant to their location; or email livesites@bt.com quoting the relevant location (e.g. "London"). They can also send a text, including the location to 82010 (25p plus your standard network fee).

Suzi Williams, BT's Director of Group Marketing and Brand, said:

"We’re delighted to be playing cupid for Valentine’s weekend, enabling people to send messages to their loved ones via the Live Sites. It’s a great testament to how the power of communication can bring people together!"

Mercifully BT "reserves the right not to display messages which are non- English, incomplete, misspelt, or otherwise not fit for public viewing", which perhaps risks excluding most of your typical text messages. Sadly they also reserve the right to charge you for the messages even if they're not published, which is nice.

Those of you wishing to retain your sanity should therefore avoid the following live site locations on the allotted dates of infamy.

* Birmingham, Victoria Square, B1 1BB
* Bradford - Centenary Square, BD1 1SD
