Mozilla has today released the latest version of its highly popular free website browsing software,
Firefox 4. The new browser, which at the time of writing has already been
downloaded 5.33 million times since its launch, includes all the usual fixes and some big improvements.
Chief among the new features list is Firefox's cleaner looking User Interface (UI), hardware accelerated (GPU) rendering of web content and video, faster browser load times and a faster Javascript engine.
Mozilla has also introduced an Add-On manager, multi-touch support for Windows 7 users, a "
Do Not Track" feature for handling advertising cookies and improved web standards (HTML5, CSS3, WebGL etc.) support. Plus much more.
Unlike Microsoft's recently launched
Internet Explorer 9 (IE9) website browser, Firefox 4 brings all of its new features to older versions of MS Windows (e.g. XP) and many other operating systems too (Linux etc.).
