Ovum (Datamonitor), a technology and telecommunications analyst firm, has revealed that the world market for telecoms service provision is nearly back to "
sustainable growth" after
growing by 4% between the end of 2009 and 2010 to reach a
total worth of £1.136 trillion ($1.85 trillion).
Matt Walker, Ovum Principal Analyst, said:
"It’s too early to break out the champagne just yet, but within the context of a slowly improving global economy, the telecoms sector is returning to sustainable growth."
Larger telecoms firms, such as ZTE, Juniper, Alcatel-Lucent, Ericsson and Nokia Siemens Networks’ (NSN) are known to have done particularly well. Much of this can perhaps be put down to the increasing growth and investment in new next generation mobile and fixed line broadband networks.
