The
North Lincolnshire Council (NLC) and
North East Lincolnshire Council (NELC) have
quietly revealed more details about their joint plan to deploy superfast broadband ISP services throughout the
South Humber area (North and North East Lincolnshire).
A
Prior Information Notice (part of the tender process) to the EU stated that a "
mix of technologies (e.g. FTTC, FTTP, wireless) will be required" to help bring speeds of 30Mbps to "
100% of customers" (i.e. homes, businesses and public services) in the region.
Prior Information Notice
This information has shown that there are significant areas of deprivation, high customer usage and planned regeneration investment where super fast broadband will not be available without intervention.
North and North East Lincolnshire Council’s are making a joint bid to BDUK for funding for the project. An Expression of Interest has been submitted to DCMS and it is the intention to submit a BDUK Broadband Plan by October 2011.
Sadly no further details were available and the governments Broadband Delivery UK (BDUK) office has previously said that a forthcoming announcement, which is supposed to cover funding for every local authority in the country, is expected to be made "
later this year".
