A
SES ASTRA (
ASTRA2Connect) based provider of broadband Satellite internet access services in the UK,
BeyonDSL, has today moved to take on its rivals by launching a new range of
cheaper and faster packages. Entry level prices now start at just £14.99 per month for a 2Mbps (0.25Mbps upload) service, with
6Mbps being available from £19.99.
The new
ValuePlus 28.2°E packages all operate via ASTRA's latest generation of Satellite's, which can be located at
28.2° East. The service is eventually expected to reach speeds of up to 10Mbps+ when the new
ASTRA 2F,
2E and
2G spacecraft are launched between 2012 and 2014.
ValuePlus 28.2°E Packages
• £14.99 – 2M2 V+ for up to 2Mbps with 2GB data traffic quota
• £19.99 – 6M2 V+ for up to 6Mbps with 2GB data traffic quota
• £24.99 – 6M 4V+ for up to 6Mbps with 4GB data traffic quota
• £29.99 – 6M6 V+ for up to 6Mbps with 6GB data traffic quota
• £49.99 – 6M12 V+ for up to 6Mbps with 12 GB data traffic quota
Happily BeyonDSL's existing customers, most of which use the
23.5° East satellites', have not been left out and can also now take a new 6Mbps
ValuePlus 23.5°E package at £24.99 if they so wish (includes a 2GB usage allowance). A range of more expensive
Standard Packages are also being offered alongside "
unlimited" data.
Mike Locke, MD of BeyonDSL, said:
"We are very pleased to announce this upgrade in both speed and value for our services. Since launch in 2009, speed has tripled and new types of service enhancements mean satellite’s value has never been better."
Patrick Biewer, Managing Director of ASTRA Broadband Services, added:
"We are continuously enhancing our satellite broadband internet service ASTRA2Connect. Our development roadmap indicates speeds of 16 to 20 Mbps by 2015 and foresees the introduction of Ka-band services to keep ASTRA2Connect at the competitive edge of the market."
BeyonDSL's latest ValuePlus packages come with an up to 256kbps "
follow-on" channel after the main monthly data quota has been used up. Customers can also add
FreeZone for £12.50 extra, which provides unlimited overnight data between 22:00 and 06:00 hours for £12.50. Just be warned that it can cost £15 to add an extra 1GB to your allowance.
Likewise the hardware will set you back an uncomfortable £299.99, not to mention £89.99 for a professional installation and the £50 activation fee. It's worth pointing out that some of BeyonDSL's services can also be combined with
Sky TV or Freesat on the same dish.
