The UK Solicitors Regulatory Authority (SRA) has confirmed to ISPreview.co.uk that Andrew Crossley, the boss of a hugely controversial and now defunct solicitors firm known as ACS:Law UK, will face his substantive hearing in front of the Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal (SDT) during the week commencing 16th January 2012.

ACS:Law sent thousands of "bullying" letters, many of which demanded big settlement payments, to those accused of having abused their broadband ISP connections for "illegal" internet copyright infringement (piracy). The SRA believes that Crossley "acted without integrity" while attempting to extort money from those it threatened in order to "take unfair advantage" (here). ACS:Law's methods also relied upon unreliable IP address based evidence.
