UK ISP TalkTalk Claims Phones More Popular than Facebook for Staying in Touch

Posted: 16th Sep, 2011 By: MarkJ
talktalk uk ispInternet and phone provider TalkTalk ( AOL UK ) has today released the results from its latest Look Who's Talking (no relation to the film) survey, which discovered that 10.7 million UK people still use a phone to call friends and family every week. Mobile and home phones were also found to be the most popular way (40% and 35% respectively) of doing this, while Facebook was the least popular (22%).

Mark Schmid, Spokesperson for TalkTalk, said:

"In an age where the rise of social media as a way for people to contact each other is frequently discussed, it’s good to see that verbal communication is still important. In fact, as our research shows, calling from a mobile remains the main way for them to stay in touch with loved ones."

Women were also found to be "slightly better at staying in regular contact" with those around them than men. Some 10% claimed to contact people either every hour/every day, which compares with 9% for men (still quite close).
