Sheffield-based broadband ISP PlusNet has today revealed its intention to
relocate all of their operations into a huge and centrally located new "
grade-A" office space (
53,000 square feet) in the heart of
Sheffield (
South Yorkshire) - '
The Balance' (Pinfold Street, S1).
The move, which is predicted to be "
the biggest office let within Sheffield for the last five years", will take place during
Spring 2012 and shortly after the ISP celebrates its
15th birthday in February 2012.
Jamie Ford, CEO of Plusnet, said:
"This is an incredibly exciting time for our business and signals another milestone in our amazing story. With such rapid expansion over the last two years this move will enable all business operations including our customer services, to remain together under one roof. This is something incredibly unique for a telecoms provider in the UK.
At the same time, the move gives us the space to necessitate further expansion as we continue to grow at pace and cements our commitment to Sheffield for the foreseeable future.
Our staff have worked incredibly hard to achieve this success and I am delighted that we are in a position to reward them with a state-of-the-art working environment. As we continue to grow, I hope the new building acts as another factor to attract local talent to our business."
PlusNet is currently based at two sites in the city (
Tenter Street and
Victoria Quays) and employs almost
700 staff in the UK. The move into their new office, which has its own staff restaurant and cafe bar, is expected to be
completed by the end of May 2012.
Most businesses tend to handle such relocations reasonably well but there could still be some disruption, especially in terms of administrative processes. We should learn more about the ISPs plans to minimise this next year (assuming they have one) but we'd expect a phased move.
