Customers who pay off their TalkTalk bill early (i.e. within 24 hours of receiving the bill notification email) could until recently benefit from a so-called “Speedy Payment Discount” of 15%, but this has now been quietly reduced to just 10% and follows hot on the heels of the ISPs other recent price rises.
The Speedy Payment Discount can be applied to most of TalkTalk’s services, although it’s not available on their Mobile bills and doesn’t apply to their pre-paid Value Line Rental because that is paid separately. On top of that TalkTalk doesn’t charge for paying by card, which is another advantage they offer over some of their rivals.
Admittedly the discount system hasn’t always worked as well as it should, with some customers failing to even notice the relevant link and email delivery delays sometimes making it difficult to claim, although the ISPs customer support teams were sometimes, but not always, willing to rectify this.
Never the less, customers who have regularly been taking advantage of this offer will now experience a somewhat stealthy price rise after the discount level was reduced from 15% to 10%. But we won’t moan about this one too much because TalkTalk remains one of the very few major ISPs to offer such a deal. Credits to MSE users for spotting the change.
