ITSPA Reveals the 2017 Best UK Internet VoIP Provider Award Winners

The Internet Telephony Services Providers Association (ITSPA), which represents the United Kingdom’s Voice-over-IP (VoIP) industry, has today announced the winners of this year’s ITSPA Awards event. Curiously though the ‘Best Consumer VoIP‘ category seems to have vanished.

Last year saw Telappliant (VoIPtalk) collect the award for Best Consumer VoIP Provider and this year the finalists for that same category were Antheus, VoiceHost and Vonage (here). However today’s announcement makes no mentioned whatsoever of the ‘Best Consumer’ category and it doesn’t show on their website either, which is hopefully just an oversight (we have asked and will report back when they reply).

The event also covers various other categories and we’ve pasted both the winners and runners-up (highly commended) below.

Eli Katz, Chair of ITSPA, said:

“A special congratulations must go to all the winners and to those companies who were highly commended at this year’s Awards. This year’s Awards were particularly competitive, emphasising the continued growth and diversity of the entire next generations communications sector.

The market is continuing to mature and develop at pace and, with the General Election just a month away, the Brexit negotiations commencing and the reform of Openreach being implemented – 2017 is proving to be a year of fundamental importance to our industry in many ways.

We have also set up dedicated task forces on the issues of business switching and cyber crime and will continue to liaise with policymakers to ensure our members’ views are heard and listened to. As ever, we are keen for companies across the next generations communications industry to join ITSPA and get involved in our numerous work streams.”

Entrants to all categories had to complete a written self-assessment, which were independently reviewed by the ITSPA Awards judges. Several of the categories – Best Consumer VoIP, Best Business ITSP (Small Enterprise) and Best Business (Medium Enterprise) – required two months’ worth of specialist technical testing by Netaxis Solutions, with support from Ziron.

UPDATE 10th May 2017 (8:24am)

Apparently the consumer category was removed due to “unforeseen circumstances,” which is what spokespeople tend to say when not wishing to give you the real answer.
