Customers of UK mobile operator EE with the BTSport App can now make use of a new TV casting feature from their Smartphone, which enables them to watch the content in HD on multiple devices. As a bonus the first 3 months of access will be offered free and won’t suck your data allowance.
The BT Sport TV content tends to come alongside a short 30 day contract term. After the first three months of free usage, those on EE Max plans can get access to the app on their mobile included in their plan, with inclusive data / TV casting for £10 a month. Meanwhile, EE Essentials and SIM Only customers can get the app on their mobile for £5 a month or both inclusive data and TV casting for £15 a month.
However, we note that anybody who took advantage of EE’s original BT Sport offer won’t be able to benefit from the free period, although they will instead be able to get it for a discount of £5 instead of £15 per month for both the TV casting and inclusive data (first 3 months only – saving £30).
Max Taylor, EE’s MD of Marketing, said:
“We’re really excited to offer EE customers more ways to enjoy sports – and all in glorious HD. Whether on-the-go or watching the big game with mates, EE customers now can use the BT Sport app to stream the latest matches across multiple devices including the TV when at home or at a friends’ house, all without requiring a contract or impacting their monthly data allowance.”
End.
BT Sports are rubbish. Nothing special on this premium channels.
Might be something to consider when rugby restarts have BT Sports on EE Max plan but never use as I find it hard watch a rugby match on my phone
So EE are breaking net neutrality rules too by offering zero data charges for BT Sport. Hope 3 and Vodafone complain to OFCOM as they are both being investigated for the same alleged offence.
Such complaints would come to nothing as Ofcom has already shown that they aren’t interested in tackling short lived offers or discounts. The issue at 3 and Voda is more serious because the aspects being investigated are more akin to permanent service features.
I’ve been looking for an option to pay extra to cast BT Sport to the TV as an EE customer, but I still feel like the £10 a month they’re asking is a bit high. In my dreams, I wished it would be closer to £5 a month. Will see how long I can resist.
I have just signed up & for £2.50 a week I can now play the btsports app on my iPad Pro .
A Mitch easier watch than my iPhone XS plus.
You will need a Chromecast to be able to cast to your Tav & the picture quality is great. Google home & google chromecast apps need installing on your iOS device before this will work. The bonus is once you have signed up any data if not using WiFi doesn’t come from your allowance, with one proviso you must have data still left on your bundle to actually use it.
Hope this helps Mal
