Customers of O2, EE, Vodafone and Three UK – as well as various virtual (MVNO) mobile providers – are today reporting sporadic connectivity problems with making calls, which began at just after 10am today. Some reports have claimed that this issue allegedly stems from an interconnect fault on O2’s network.
In a brief statement O2 said, “Some customers may be experiencing issues when making and receiving voice calls on our 2G, 3G and 4G networks. Our mobile data [mobile broadband] and messaging services and O2 Wifi are not affected. This is a cross industry issue and our technical teams continue to investigate, working to resolve the issue as quickly as possible. We apologise for any inconvenience.”
The statement has also been echoed by EE, although they added that the fault is being “caused by an issue in another operator’s network” and is “not related to the increase in home working, caused by Coronavirus.” Meanwhile Vodafone has been telling those who complain via social media that, “we’re currently not experiencing issues with our network at the moment,” which may be technically correct but has added to the frustration as subscribers hunt for answers.
The good news is that complaints about this have been fairly sporadic and some customers are now reporting that the issue has been resolved, although the picture remains mixed.
I was having serious issues with three yesterday. Had to stop a number of calls/restart my phone about four times
My phone keeps getting black flashing screen when on the Internet then it goes back to the beginning of the page. Ie l go to order an item then when l hit payment the screen flashes then goes back to the start and l have to find my items and put them back into my basket. Any ideas it’s so frustrating.
